Local Plan Consultation Information
We’re updating the Local Plan for the area outside the New Forest National Park, and we want your views. The Local Plan sets out where new homes, jobs and facilities could go, and how we protect the environment and local character. It guides decisions on planning applications.
Why are we reviewing the Local Plan?
We must keep our Local Plan up to date — it’s a legal requirement — and the Government strongly encourages regular reviews.
What this consultation covers
This stage follows the Issues and Scope consultation in early 2025.
We’re now asking for your views on:
the emerging strategy,
possible policy changes, and
options for where future development might go.
This includes homes, jobs, infrastructure and how we look after the natural environment. Your feedback will help shape the next version of the Local Plan.
At a number of drop-in events we will be displaying a range of information and banners, all of which you can see below.
