Open Spaces

We are seeking your views on your experiences of open spaces in the New Forest District (outside the National Park). This information will help guide our decisions on open spaces in the New Forest District council area. The information will also contribute to decisions taken in the Local Plan, the latest consultation on our Local Plan can be seen here.

In this survey we specifically talk about 'open spaces'. By Open Spaces we mean:

  • Parks, including recreation grounds.
  • Amenity greenspaces including green open spaces, fields, village greens, commons, community growing areas, and allotments.
  • Natural and semi natural spaces, that are accessible by the public, for example woods, grasslands, heathlands, streams and rivers, open access land, coastal areas.
  • Cemeteries.

Your views will help inform decisions made on these areas, help refine their management and help towards refining how we plan for development in the New Forest District.

The survey is available online and open from 10th February 2026 and will close on 12th March 2026.
