Play Spaces

We are seeking your views on your experiences of play areas in the New Forest District. This information will help guide our decisions on play areas in New Forest District Council (outside the National Park). The information will also contribute to decisions taken in the Local Plan, which is currently being reviewed. You can see our Local Plan Regulation 18 Spatial Options and Policy Direction project here.

In this survey we specifically talk about 'play spaces'. By this we mean equipped play areas/playgrounds, wheeled play areas, (skate parks, BMX pump tracks ), and MUGAs (Multi-use Game Areas), where a variety of different sports and games can be played.

We are also seeking your views on natural play areas. These are spaces where there is no formal equipment available. Instead these informal play spaces enable children's creativity and provide free play opportunities with features such as grass mounds, boulders, logs and stepping stones.

The survey is available online and open from 11th February 2026 and will close on 12th March 2026.
