The government is proposing changes to how councils are structured across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. This will affect how services are delivered to businesses and communities in the New Forest.

New Forest District Council supports proposals for a new rural council for mid-Hampshire that includes the whole of the New Forest. We believe this option protects the district’s identity, keeps our communities together, and ensures services are designed by people who understand our area.

For businesses, we believe this means:

• A council that reflects the needs of our rural economy, not urban centres.
• Better support for local enterprise, tourism, and green growth.
• Services shaped around our market towns, villages, and business hubs.
• A stronger voice for the New Forest in future investment and planning decisions.
